SRD payment update: November 2026. The SRD date is not yet announced. SRD is usually paid in batches from the 21st to the 30th. Other November grant dates: Older Persons 30 Oct (paid early), Disability 2 Nov, Children's 3 Nov, review grants 5 Nov. See all payment dates.

Start with the official status check

Check your SASSA SRD status free on the official srd.sassa.gov.za portal with your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you applied with.

A SASSA SRD status check is the free lookup of your grant outcome for each month. It shows Approved, Pending or Declined for each month. Once a month is approved, it shows your personal pay day. You need your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you applied with. There is no password and no app.

The grant pays R370 a month. It was R350 until 31 March 2024 and became R370 from 1 April 2024. If an old SMS says “R350”, it refers to the same SRD account.

The SRD grant is for people aged 18 to 59. The means test uses R624 a month.

SASSA says the grant is extended to 31 March 2027. The October 2026 budget documents extend it for another year beyond March 2027. The amount stays at R370.

If you have never applied, use the SRD application guide before you check a status.

Before you start, have your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you used when you applied ready. The check is free.

What does your SRD status mean?

Your SRD status tells you whether your application for that month is pending, approved, paid, declined or paused. Pick the exact wording below to see what it means and what to do next.

Quick status key

  • Pending = received but not yet decided.
  • Approved = you qualify and payment will follow.
  • Paid = money sent to your verified account.
  • Declined = unsuccessful; appeal within 90 days.
  • Banking details pending = submit or verify bank details.
  • Cancelled = application closed; reapply if still eligible.

This tool is a guide only. It does not check your real status and never asks for your ID. Nothing you pick leaves your phone.

Pick the status you see on the SRD portal. We will tell you what it means and what to do next.

Approved but no payment date yet?

An approved SRD status with no pay date usually means your payment is waiting for the monthly batch, or that SASSA still has to verify your bank account.

Approved means SASSA has confirmed you qualify for R370 for that month. It does not mean the money has moved. Your pay date appears later, once your batch is scheduled. Payments usually go out from the 21st to the 30th.

Status results update monthly, roughly the 10th to the 20th, and it is busiest from the 18th to the 26th. Check again after the 20th.

If your status says Bank Details Pending, SASSA has not verified your account yet. Your payment is held. Verification takes about 3–7 working days. The account must be in your own name.

Missing payment troubleshooter

If an approved SRD payment has no date, the most common cause is an unverified bank account or a batch that has not been scheduled. Answer five questions to find your likely reason and next step.

1. What does your SRD status say right now?

Pick the one you see on your status page.

2. What pay date does SASSA show for this month?
3. Are your bank details verified on the SRD portal?
4. Did you change your cellphone number in the last 30 days?
5. Have you been paid the SRD grant before?

About this tool

This tool looks at your status, the working days since your pay date, your bank verification and any phone change. It then gives you one fix and one escalation path. Working days are Monday to Friday only. Weekends and South African public holidays do not count. SASSA has said bank verification takes 3–7 working days. If your status is Approved and 8 or more working days have passed, the tool tells you to call 0800 60 10 11 and ask for a payment trace.

SRD payment dates and when money goes out

SASSA SRD payments go out in batches from the 21st to the 30th of each month, not on one pay day for everyone. The SASSA SRD payment dates for 2026 page has the month-by-month schedule.

Once a month shows Approved, your own pay date appears on the official status page. The money can take 1–3 business days to reflect.

The SRD date for November 2026 has not yet been announced. SASSA has said the window can vary by month. Check again after the 20th. Status results update monthly, roughly the 10th to the 20th, and it is busiest from the 18th to the 26th.

Your date also depends on banking verification. If your account is not verified, payment is held. Verification takes about 3–7 working days.

Use the official portal to see your own pay day. A published date cannot confirm your personal payment.

Approved or declined? What to do next

If your status is approved, payment follows in the pay window from the 21st to the 30th; if declined, you have 90 days to appeal.

Approved means you qualify for R370 for that month. Payment is batched from the 21st to the 30th. If no pay date appears, check again after the 20th.

Declined means you failed a check for that month. The reason should appear next to the status. Appeal each declined month separately at srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal within 90 days. The Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) usually decides in 60–90 days.

Never pay anyone to appeal. Do not use a reapplication instead of an appeal; you can lose the backdated month.

Check your SRD status with your ID number

You check your SRD status with your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you applied with at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status. No app or separate login is needed.

Both details must match your application. The check is free. The status page shows a result for each month, so you can see which month was declined or approved.

If you see No Records Found, check each of the 13 digits and use the exact number you applied with. If your number changed, update it at srd.sassa.gov.za (choose the option to update your details), then check again.

Type your ID exactly as it appears on your green ID book, with no spaces. A single wrong digit returns “No Records Found”.

Best way to check with data, WhatsApp, USSD or after a number change

The best way to check is the official portal at srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status. If you have no data, use WhatsApp 082 046 8553 or call 0800 60 10 11. Tell us your situation below and we will name the official channel.

For a balance or banking-details question, the status page will not show it. Use the banking section at srd.sassa.gov.za. The old USSD code *134*7737# may not work in 2026; use WhatsApp 082 046 8553 or the portal if it fails.

1. What is happening right now? (required)
2. Do you have a smartphone with data or Wi-Fi? (optional)

This tool never asks for your ID number, cellphone number or OTP. Nothing you pick here leaves your browser.

How this works

You pick what is happening. The tool picks the channel that fits your situation: the portal, the WhatsApp bot, the toll-free helpline, or a SASSA office visit. It uses only the facts on this page. It does not store or send your answers. This is a guide. SASSA makes the final decision. Never pay anyone to check your status.

The official portal and how to spot scams

Use only srd.sassa.gov.za to check status, apply, appeal or update banking details; SASSA never asks you to pay to check your status.

The official status page is srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status and the official appeal page is srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/appeal.

Questions people ask

Does SASSA send an SMS when my SRD status changes?

SASSA sends SMS updates to applicants. There is no official SMS status line. For your current status, check the official status page or WhatsApp 082 046 8553.

Do I need to reapply for SRD every month?

No. Your existing application is checked each month. Reapply only if the portal says Reapplication Required or Cancelled. If you are appealing a decline, do not reapply instead of appealing.

What does "Period Pending" mean?

It means this month's payment is still being checked. It is not the same as a general Pending status. Check the portal again later in the month.

What does "Referred" mean?

SASSA sent your file for extra checks, usually identity or bank checks. Do nothing unless SASSA SMSes you. If it stays Referred for a long time, call 0800 60 10 11.

What should I do if I see "Under Review"?

A person at SASSA is looking at your file. Wait and do not submit a duplicate application. If it stays Under Review for a long time, call 0800 60 10 11.

What if my status is not on this page?

Use the exact words from the SRD portal. Check the official status page again, or use the status tool above. If you are still unsure, call 0800 60 10 11 or email srd@sassa.gov.za.
